Christa Pike execution stayed before lethal injection
The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday stayed Christa Pike's execution in Tennessee shortly before she was due to receive a lethal injection.
The court halted the execution until further notice. Pike had been scheduled to die three decades after murdering a classmate.
Her execution would have been the first execution of a woman in Tennessee in more than 200 years.
