F-16 crash at US base in Germany injures pilot
A US F-16 fighter jet crashed Tuesday at Spangdahlem Air Base in western Germany, and the pilot was injured after ejecting, the US Air Force and local authorities said.
The F-16 Fighting Falcon went down at about 2:30 pm local time at the base in Rhineland-Palatinate state, according to a statement from Spangdahlem Air Base.
The base said the pilot ejected safely and was receiving medical care. Local civilian authorities confirmed that one person was injured.
Emergency workers attended the crash site, and US officials said the incident is under investigation.
Spangdahlem Air Base is home to the US Air Force's 52nd Fighter Wing, which provides airpower and support for NATO operations in Europe and beyond.
