Smriti Mandhana becomes women's cricket top run-scorer

India batter Smriti Mandhana has become the leading run-scorer in women’s international cricket after making 124 off 64 balls against Hong Kong in the Women’s Asia Cup in Dubai.

Mandhana passed former India captain Mithali Raj, who had held the top mark with 10,868 international runs, during the match-winning innings on Thursday.

The 30-year-old also became the leading century-maker in women’s international cricket, reaching 18 hundreds across formats. Australia’s Meg Lanning and South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt have 17 each.

Mandhana has two centuries in Tests, two in T20 internationals and 14 in one-day internationals. Her innings against Hong Kong included 14 fours and seven sixes.

India made 193-5 and bowled out Hong Kong for 56, winning by 137 runs to secure a place in the semi-finals of the T20 tournament.
