Russia says 596 Ukrainian drones downed; 4 killed
Russia's defence ministry said Wednesday that its forces shot down 596 Ukrainian drones overnight, while a regional governor said four people, including a child, were killed in Novorossiysk in the southern Krasnodar region.
Krasnodar governor Veniamin Kondratyev said on Telegram that Russian forces had repelled a large overnight drone attack on the region and that Novorossiysk was hit hardest.
The reported drone attack came a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by telephone with US President Donald Trump about ways to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Washington is pushing for face-to-face talks between Russia and Ukraine.
Kyiv has said talks could happen this month, while the Kremlin has said it is too early to discuss a venue or dates.
