Roma to wear Nepal relief jerseys in Champions League

Roma said they will wear jerseys supporting relief efforts in Nepal during this week's Champions League match against Fenerbahce in Istanbul.

The Italian club said its players will wear shirts with the World Food Programme logo and the message “Together for Nepal” in Thursday's game.

Roma said the match-worn shirts will be auctioned, with the money raised going to support people in Nepal through WFP relief efforts.

Roma's usual shirt sponsor is a sports betting company, and the club said it had been barred from displaying that sponsor in Turkey under Turkish law.

A flash flood on August 26 caused by a glacier and rockslide, which began on the China-Nepal border, has left at least 1,410 people dead and 5,651 missing.
