Roblox Wallet to pay US adult creators daily

Roblox will launch a digital wallet in December that lets adult creators in the United States receive game revenue every business day and transfer it to a bank account, the company announced at its annual developer conference in San Jose, California.

The company said the Roblox Wallet will replace a system in which paid creators had to manually request conversion of Robux, the platform's virtual currency, into dollars after reaching a threshold and then wait for payment.

Roblox said the wallet will be rolled out internationally in 2027, alongside an associated payment card. Enrico D'Angelo, Roblox's chief commercial officer, said the wallet would be a financial account, not a bank account. The wallet will be managed by payment company Airwallex.

Roblox said it has paid more than $5 billion to creators since 2013, including $1.7 billion over the past 12 months. The company said median earnings among about 42,000 paid creators are about $1,500 a year.

Roblox told AFP the wallet will be extended in 2027 to teenagers with parental consent, and that the payment card will be available to any wallet holder.

Roblox also said users will be able by the end of the year to launch games directly from the Chrome browser through a shared link, without going through the Roblox app. Creators will later be able to distribute games as standalone apps on mobile, PC and consoles, and an offline mode is planned.

The company did not specify how restricted-function accounts for users aged 5 to 15 or its age verification system for messaging would apply outside the app. Roblox acknowledged those safety measures have slowed sign-ups. About one-third of its users are under 13.

The company said about 123 million people played on Roblox every day in the second quarter of 2026, up 10% from a year earlier but below a peak of 151 million in summer 2025. Roblox is forecasting a 14% to 18% drop in overall purchases made by players in the current quarter, and its share price has lost more than two-thirds of its value since its high.

Roblox remains under scrutiny over children's safety and has been accused of failing to adequately protect children from sexual predators. During Friday's conference, a protester was escorted out after jumping on stage and shouting while wearing a T-shirt that said "kids deserve better."

In the United States, two senators opened an inquiry in August, and about ten states have sued the company or reached financial settlements with it. The European Commission said in August that Roblox falls under its strictest digital services rules because of the size of its market.

Roblox is also testing an artificial intelligence Build tool in Serbia and Singapore that can generate a game from a written description. The company said about 9,000 games have been published using the tool, and that 71% of those users had never used its creation tools before.

Roblox co-founder and CEO David Baszucki said the company aims to capture 10% of the global video game market. Its next earnings report is expected at the end of October.
