Prince Harry and Meghan: Trump glad they left US
US President Donald Trump said Wednesday he was glad Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had left the United States, after the couple moved back to Britain from their home in Montecito, California.
“I'm happy about it. I was not a fan,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.
Trump said he believed the couple had treated the British royal family with “great disrespect.” He said he did not like the way Meghan acted and accused her of being disrespectful to Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III.
Prince Harry and Meghan are settling back in Britain six years after leaving for the United States amid acrimony over their criticism of the royal family.
Harry appeared to have mended relations with his father, King Charles III, who is battling cancer, during more recent UK visits. He reportedly remains estranged from his brother, Prince William, and William's wife, Catherine.
Trump said he would not have been as forgiving. “If I were the royal family, I would not have taken them back,” he said.
