Prince Harry and Meghan switch school over security, media say

Prince Harry and Meghan changed their children's school because of security concerns, British media reported Monday, days after the start of the school year in England.

Hello! magazine reported that the distance to the school and heavy traffic on the route raised concerns. A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told the magazine that the decision followed discussions with the family's security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements.

Harry and Meghan's team did not respond Monday to AFP's request for comment.

British media reported that the family has chosen to live in the Cotswolds in central England and had enrolled seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet in a private school whose name has not been disclosed.

Harry and Meghan left Britain and quit royal duties in 2020. Harry later fought an unsuccessful legal battle to keep UK taxpayer-funded security while living in California.

Local media reported that the family is using private security guards and that Harry has asked the government to provide police protection for him and his family.

The BBC reported that Britain's Royal and VIP Executive Committee, which is responsible for protecting public and royal figures, met last week to discuss protection for the family and will conduct a detailed review of threats facing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
