Morocco election turnout falls to 38%

Moroccan authorities said Wednesday night that turnout in the kingdom’s parliamentary election was 38 percent, the lowest level in almost two decades.

The figure was below the 50 percent turnout recorded in 2021 and was the second-lowest since 2007, when turnout was 36.8 percent.

Nearly 16 million people had registered to elect 395 members of the House of Representatives, a vote that will pave the way for forming a new government.
