Minneapolis shooting leaves two dead; suspect also dead

Two people died and several others were injured, including three police officers, after police said a gunman opened fire in Minneapolis on Wednesday.

Garrett Parten, a police spokesperson, said the suspect was also dead, but it was not clear how he died. Parten said one person died at the scene and four people were taken to hospital, where one later died.

Three police officers were also taken to hospital, including two who were shot. A hospital spokesperson said the two officers were expected to survive and were in stable condition. One was shot in the leg, while another was in surgery. The injury to the third officer was not clear.

Officials did not mention a motive during the police press conference. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz asked the public to “pray for Minnesota,” and FBI Director Kash Patel said agents were responding. City officials were expected to hold another press conference later Wednesday.
