Mexico fireworks blast kills at least 10 at church
A fireworks blast involving material stored inside a church killed at least 10 people and injured more than 60 during a village festival in Santa Maria Canchesda, central Mexico, the local government said.
The explosion happened on Saturday night as people gathered outside the church during celebrations that included a ritual in which a straw bull fitted with fireworks is burned and carried around town.
Video broadcast by news outlets showed a large blast, damaged building walls, a fire in the town square and people fleeing. News reports said some people were trapped under debris from fallen buildings.
