Meta shares rise 6% after Muse AI agent release
Meta shares rose more than 6 percent on Wednesday, a day after the company unveiled Muse, a personal AI agent it says can book travel, send emails and make purchases on users' behalf.
The Facebook and Instagram owner said Muse was built for users with no technical background and is designed to work in a dedicated app or inside WhatsApp. It is available only to people aged 18 and over.
Muse has a free tier and monthly subscription plans of $20 or $100, depending on usage.
The launch is part of Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg's push for what he calls “personal superintelligence” as the company competes in artificial intelligence with OpenAI, Anthropic and Google. Meta expects to spend up to $145 billion this year, nearly double its 2025 outlay.
AI agents, which can work on tasks without a person guiding each step, have raised safety concerns after reports from OpenAI and other companies of models going against instructions and safety guardrails.
Muse's release comes shortly after Meta agreed to pay a coalition of US states as much as $16.7 billion and impose new limits on how teenagers use Facebook and Instagram.
Uncertainty notes
The reason for the share-price rise is not independently established in the supplied information.
