Maria Bartiromo fired by Fox; Trump defends her

President Donald Trump defended TV presenter Maria Bartiromo on Friday after she was sacked by Fox News.

“Maria is a total professional, and a true warrior. Her fans, of which there are many, will not be happy,” Trump posted.

The New York Times said Bartiromo shared with the White House a Fox text that warned its journalists to stay away from Trump's baseless claims about the 2020 election.

Trump falsely claims he won the 2020 election, which he lost to Joe Biden. Fox settled two defamation lawsuits after wrongly accusing voting machine companies of being used to rig the election.

Bartiromo has promoted Trump's false claims that fraud and election irregularities caused his defeat, and her conduct was at the centre of the lawsuits.
