Deir Zahrani strikes reported by Al-Manar after Israeli order

Hezbollah's Al-Manar television channel reported Israeli airstrikes on Deir Zahrani in southern Lebanon after the Israeli army ordered residents to leave a specific zone early Monday.

The Israeli army said it was preparing strikes against Iran-backed Hezbollah and told residents in the area to evacuate. It said an explosive drone had been launched toward its forces and said it was targeting what it called a Hezbollah facility.

The army said people who stayed in the area were at risk. It did not specify whether any soldiers were wounded by the drone, and no casualty figure was given for the reported Deir Zahrani strikes.

The order followed an earlier Israeli evacuation notice near a building in Arab Salim that the army also described as a Hezbollah facility. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Sunday urged Washington and the wider international community to help stop Israeli attacks.

Lebanon was drawn into the wider Middle East war in March after Hezbollah attacked Israel in support of Iran. Israel responded with airstrikes and a ground invasion that Beirut says have killed more than 4,300 people.

Violence has decreased since a US-Iran memorandum of understanding on the broader regional conflict in June and an Israel-Lebanon framework agreement later that month. Israeli forces are operating inside a self-declared security zone about 10 kilometres deep inside Lebanon along the border.
