Iranian fishermen stranded in UAE fly home, IRNA says
Ten Iranian fishermen who went missing in August off Iran's southern coast and were later found in the United Arab Emirates left Dubai for Iran on Friday, Iranian state news agency IRNA reported.
IRNA, citing the Iranian consulate general in the UAE, said the men were travelling by plane to the port city of Bandar Abbas across the Gulf.
The fishermen went missing during the Middle East war, with the Strait of Hormuz described as a major flashpoint between Tehran and Washington.
In July, the Iranian embassy in the UAE announced the return of 55 Iranian fishermen stranded in the country. Iranian media also frequently report fishermen going missing at sea.
IRNA reported in August that 17 fishermen from the southeastern port of Konarak had been missing since May after their vessel lost contact.
Uncertainty notes
The item does not state how the 10 fishermen reached or were found in the UAE.
The item reports that the fishermen left Dubai but does not confirm their arrival in Iran.
