Trump says Iran war will end after US midterms
President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he believes the Iran war will end “immediately” after the United States votes in midterm elections in November.
“I think the war will end immediately after the election,” Trump told journalists, saying Iran “can't hold out any longer.” He also accused Tehran of being “desperate to try and affect” the vote.
Earlier Wednesday, Iran's Revolutionary Guards said the war with the United States could end if Washington stopped threatening Iran and met Tehran's conditions, Fars news agency reported.
IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebi said the United States must stop the war, refrain from new threats and release $24 billion in frozen Iranian assets, according to Fars. Mohebi also said the conditions included withdrawal of Israel's army from Lebanon, an end to the blockade of Yemen and no interference in Iran's nuclear and missile capabilities.
