Iran Guards say they destroyed MQ1 drone over Hormuz
Iran's Revolutionary Guards said Tuesday that they intercepted and destroyed an advanced MQ1 drone over the Strait of Hormuz, but did not say who was behind the alleged attack.
The Guards said in a statement carried by state TV that the drone was destroyed by a new advanced defence system under the control of Iran's integrated air defence network.
The MQ1 model is used by only a few countries, including the United States. The claim came during the six-month US-Iran war, with Tehran maintaining control of the strategic Strait of Hormuz waterway.
