Two tankers hit in Strait of Hormuz, UKMTO says

Two tankers were hit in the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations centre said, with two crew members reported to have minor injuries in one incident and no casualties reported in the other.

UKMTO said the first tanker was conducting an inbound transit when it was struck by an unknown projectile. It said the vessel was continuing to its next port of call under its own power.

British security firm Vanguard Tech said the UK-flagged tanker La Stephanie was hit by a drone while sailing towards the Gulf and also reported minor injuries to two crew members.

Later Monday, UKMTO said an LPG tanker had been hit by debris from unknown projectiles. It said no casualties were reported in that incident and the tanker would also continue to its next port of call.

The incidents took place in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway where vessels have come under repeated fire during the Middle East war.
