G20 to work on AI safety standards, UK PM says

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham said at the United Nations on Tuesday that the G20 would work on developing artificial intelligence safety standards under the United Kingdom's presidency in 2027.

“I can announce today that I am going to put AI at the heart of the UK's G20 presidency next year,” Burnham said.

He said the aim would be to agree “a single set of global principles and standards” to improve transparency, access and preparedness, and to help ensure AI development is safe.
