Eurozone growth revised up to 0.6% in second quarter
The eurozone economy grew by 0.6% in the second quarter of 2026, the EU's statistics agency said in revised data published Monday.
The new figure for the 21-country eurozone covers April to June and is up from a previous estimate of 0.4%. The single currency area recorded zero growth in the first three months of 2026.
The revision was largely due to Ireland recording growth of 10.2% in the second quarter, far above the July estimate of 3.9%. Large swings in Ireland's figures are linked to accounting operations by multinational companies based there, including pharmaceutical and technology groups, rather than underlying domestic activity.
Germany, Europe's biggest economy, also had its second-quarter growth revised up to 0.3% from a previous estimate of 0.2%.
Eurozone inflation rose to 3.3% in August, above the European Central Bank's 2% target. The ECB is due to meet on Thursday.
