Ethiopia forces repel Tigray rebels in Abala, source says

Ethiopian federal forces clashed overnight with Tigray rebels as they tried to repel an assault on Abala, a town in the Afar region, a humanitarian source told AFP on Friday.

The source said there was heavy fighting overnight and that federal forces stopped the rebels from entering the town.

The source also said the army used a drone to defend Abala, which lies in the mountains on the border of the Afar and Tigray regions.
