El Nino could be strongest in 40 years, WMO says
The current El Nino weather episode could become the strongest recorded since monitoring began four decades ago, World Meteorological Organization chief Celeste Saulo said on September 3.
Speaking at a press conference in Geneva, Saulo said that on its current path, El Nino “may be stronger than anything since our monitoring began, so literally off the charts we have used for the past four decades.”
