Danish intelligence says Russia preparing sabotage

Danish counterintelligence chief Emil Graesholm said Russia is preparing sabotage operations targeting Denmark's defence industry and urged companies in the sector to strengthen security.

Graesholm, head of counterintelligence at the Danish Security and Intelligence Service, told Berlingske that Russian security services were seeking to recruit “completely ordinary Danes” for missions. He said the tasks could include taking photos and checking or reporting access and security conditions around a facility.

Graesholm also told TV2 that Denmark's defence industry needed to take necessary security measures to protect itself, adding that many actors in the sector were already working on this.

The warning followed EU countries summoning Russian envoys and discussing possible new sanctions after an explosive-laden drone incident in Germany. The EU's foreign policy chief said that incident bore the marks of “state-sponsored terrorism.”
