Cuba condemns Trump after 'will fall' UN remark

Cuba condemned US President Donald Trump on Tuesday after he told the United Nations General Assembly that the island “will fall.”

Cuban delegates left the room during Trump's speech in New York. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez later wrote on X that the United States was incapable of accepting Cuba as “a full sovereign and independent country.”

Rodriguez said “none of the falsehoods by the US President at the UN can deny that fact” and added: “We are a country of peace and we deserve peace.”

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel also criticised Trump's remarks, saying on X that the US president was repeating at the UN that Cuba represented a threat.

Trump has claimed that Cuba represents an “extraordinary threat” to US national security. His administration imposed an energy blockade on the island in January and has added more measures since then.
