Canadian goods could lose US procurement access: Trump

US President Donald Trump threatened on Tuesday to exclude Canadian products from a government procurement program unless Canada restores what he called “full and fair reciprocity” for American farmers and companies.

Trump said in a social media post that he was directing officials to remove Canadian-origin products from the General Services Administration’s Multiple Award Schedules, a program for long-term contracts. He said the schedules account for more than $50 billion a year.

The threat came as Ottawa’s counter-tariffs took effect. US trade lawyer Ryan Majerus said the move could widen the scope of affected goods beyond those hit by tariffs.
