Ariana Grande fans mourn final London gig before break

Ariana Grande fans gathered at London's O2 on Tuesday for the final show of her 10-night residency and the end of her Eternal Sunshine tour, with some calling it a bittersweet moment before her planned break from public visibility.

The 33-year-old US singer and actress has faced public comments about her appearance since a July video for her song "Petal" prompted concern among fans. Her representative told People magazine that the Grammy-winning artist wanted to take a "step back from visibility" because her many appearances had "led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny".

Concert-goers said they were sad to see the tour end but supported a break. Kane, a 27-year-old entertainer from Skegness in northeast England, said it was "bittersweet" but good for Grande to rest because she had been busy. Jadey, a 21-year-old travel agent from the Netherlands, called it "an end of an era" for many fans.

Some fans also criticised comments about Grande's body on social media. Grande has called body-shaming comments "really dangerous".

Producers have announced that Grande is dropping out of her planned West End debut in Stephen Sondheim's "Sunday in The Park with George". Grande has described that decision as "thoughtful and empowered".

The Eternal Sunshine tour began in June in the United States. Grande starred as Glinda in the film adaptation of "Wicked", earning a 2025 Oscar nomination for best supporting actress, and is set to appear in the comedy "Focker-in-Law" with Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro in November.
