Adam Telle named acting US Army secretary by Trump

US President Donald Trump said Thursday that Adam Telle will become acting secretary of the US Army, replacing Dan Driscoll as the service's top civilian official.

Trump said on Truth Social that Telle, the current assistant secretary of the Army for civil works, would take the role effective immediately.

Telle was sworn in as assistant secretary in August 2025 after Senate confirmation. He spent much of his career as an aide on Capitol Hill.

Driscoll stepped down shortly before the announcement. AFP reported that he had clashed with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and had previously benefited from his friendship with Vice President JD Vance, a former law school classmate. His resignation was the latest departure of a senior US military leader during Trump's presidency.
