Yael Trepy leaves hospital after near-drowning in Sardinia

Cagliari's French forward Yael Trepy has been discharged from hospital after nearly drowning in a swimming pool in Porto Cervo, northern Sardinia, earlier in August, the Serie A club said Friday.

Professor Pietro Pirina, director of clinical and interventional pneumology at the hospital in Sassari, said in a statement published by Cagliari that Trepy was discharged in "overall good clinical conditions" after a recovery during his hospital stay.

Pirina said tests showed an improving picture, allowing the 20-year-old to return home safely.

Trepy came close to drowning on August 16. Cagliari said two days later that he had come out of a medically induced coma with "no evident neurological deficits".

The club did not say whether or when Trepy might resume training.

Uncertainty notes

Whether or when Trepy will resume training has not been specified.
