US deportees arrive in Eswatini under $5m deal

Two more migrants deported from the United States arrived in Eswatini on Thursday, the southern African kingdom said.

The two men, from Latin America, are among 32 deportees Eswatini has accepted since July last year under an agreement with Washington. Eswatini previously said it had received about $5.1 million from the United States to accept 160 deportees, with the money intended to strengthen border and migration management.

Eswatini says the deportees are in the country temporarily and are expected to be returned to their countries of origin. The government has previously said several deportees had already returned home after requesting voluntary repatriation to reunite with their families.

Eswatini is among African countries that have agreed to accept migrants deported under US President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown.
