United Airlines adds 10 international routes for 2027

United Airlines has unveiled 10 new international routes, including direct US flights to Sardinia, Ibiza, Luxembourg, Marseille and Ljubljana, with most service planned to begin in spring 2027.

The carrier said the expansion reflects strong travel demand despite inflation. It said the new offerings include destinations where no US carrier currently has non-stop service, including Luxembourg and Marseille.

One planned route is a four-times-weekly flight from United's Newark, New Jersey, hub near New York City to Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Several of the routes will use the Airbus A321XLR, a single-aisle aircraft designed for longer international flights. United has chosen a 150-seat layout with premium seating options, extra bathrooms and a snack bar.

United chief executive Scott Kirby said the airline expects Airbus to deliver aircraft in time for the spring 2027 launch period. He said some routes would have started earlier if deliveries had been on time.

Kirby also said United is not yet scheduling Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft because the model has not been certified. The airline expects to begin receiving the MAX 10 next summer.
