Slovak police foil arson plot at drone factory

Slovak police said Tuesday they foiled a planned arson attack on a drone manufacturing plant in eastern Slovakia and arrested three people.

Police said two suspects were arrested in Slovakia and one in Germany. They said the suspects were accused of “acting on orders” to prepare the attack, and that none of those arrested was Slovak.

Police said they acted on information from the Slovak intelligence service and seized a “large quantity” of an incendiary mixture.

“Had the attack taken place, it could have caused a massive fire,” police said. They estimated that about 70 employees could have been endangered and property worth tens of millions of euros damaged.

Several companies, including Ukrainian company Skyeton, make drones in Slovakia. Police did not give further details when contacted by AFP.

Uncertainty notes
