Slovak drone factory plot suspects Latvian, Ukrainian: media
Three suspects arrested over a foiled plot to attack a drone factory in Slovakia were from Latvia and Ukraine, German outlet Spiegel reported Wednesday.
Spiegel said a 26-year-old Latvian suspected saboteur was arrested in Hamburg, Germany. It reported that another Latvian and a Ukrainian were detained in Slovakia.
Slovak police said Tuesday they had foiled a planned arson attack on a drone manufacturing plant in eastern Slovakia and arrested three people. Police said two suspects were arrested in Slovakia and one in Germany, and that none of those arrested was Slovak.
Police said the suspects were accused of “acting on orders” to prepare the attack. They said officers seized a “large quantity” of an incendiary mixture.
Police estimated that, if carried out, the attack could have endangered about 70 employees and damaged property worth tens of millions of euros. Several companies, including Ukrainian firm Skyeton, make drones in Slovakia.
