Siberia industrial fire death toll reaches 15
The final death toll from an industrial fire at the Amur Gas Chemical Complex in Russia's far-eastern Amur region is 15, the company operating the site said Thursday.
Amur GKhK said search and rescue work had ended and the deaths of one Russian citizen and 14 foreign citizens had been confirmed. It said all those killed were employees of a contracting company.
The company said 39 people were still being treated for wounds. On Wednesday, it said most of the victims were Chinese citizens.
The fire began Tuesday at the isolated gas chemical complex, a joint Russian-Chinese venture in the Amur region. Amur GKhK is jointly owned by Russia's Sibur and China's Petroleum and Chemical Corporation, known as Sinopec.
