Houthi ship strike kills six, Yemen coastguard says
Yemen's coastguard said Tuesday that alleged Houthi strikes on the cargo vessel Tihamah near the Bab al-Mandeb Strait killed at least six people and injured 10.
The coastguard, which serves Yemen's internationally recognised government, said four sailors on the ship were killed, along with two members of forces deployed during a rescue mission to evacuate the vessel.
It said the first strike caused a fire and extensive damage aboard the ship and killed three Pakistani nationals and one Indonesian national among the crew. The coastguard said a second strike hit the rescue operation, causing deaths and injuries among response forces.
Yemen's transport ministry had earlier accused the Houthis of launching multiple strikes that hit the vessel and said four people had been killed. The ministry held the Houthis responsible for the deaths, injuries and damage to the commercial vessel.
A Houthi media outlet later reported that the group's armed forces targeted a ship on Tuesday in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait that it said was carrying Saudi military equipment. There was no official comment from the Houthis about the alleged attack.
The incident followed the collapse last month of a years-long truce in Yemen's civil war between the Houthis and the Saudi-backed, internationally recognised government. The Houthis have announced a maritime blockade of Saudi Arabia and have attacked Saudi tankers in the Red Sea and Saudi oil infrastructure, in parallel with Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

The transport ministry accused Houthi rebels of hitting the Tihamah with three successive ballistic-missile strikes.
The ministry said the vessel was carrying food supplies and caught fire.
The ministry identified the four dead crew members as three Pakistanis and one Indonesian, and said four others and a rescue team member were injured.

British maritime security company Vanguard said at least two crew members were killed and four were injured.
Vanguard said the dead were one Pakistani and one Indonesian national, and the injured were three Pakistani and one Indonesian crew members.
Vanguard said the Yemeni Navy deployed to assist the vessel and came under fire, causing one additional casualty.
