Nepal flood: 4,793 missing, 919 dead
At least 4,793 people were listed as missing and 919 were confirmed dead after flash floods and landslides hit the Nepal-Tibet border, according to figures from Nepal's disaster agency and Chinese state broadcaster CCTV.
Nepal's disaster agency said Monday that 4,247 people were missing and 903 deaths had been confirmed on Nepal's side of the border. CCTV reported Sunday that 546 people were missing and 16 had died in Tibet.
The missing in Nepal included 592 foreigners, Nepal's disaster agency said, without listing them by nationality. Chinese officials said Sunday that at least 261 foreign nationals were among those unaccounted for in Tibet.
Among those missing in Nepal were 933 people working on hydropower projects, 45 Nepali Army soldiers, 38 police and armed police officers, and 18 customs and immigration officers. At least 1,158 people were unaccounted for in Nuwakot district.
India's foreign ministry said 275 Indian citizens and another 128 persons of Indian origin were missing. Chinese state media said 49 Indian nationals were missing in Tibet, while around 900 Indian nationals on the Chinese side were safe and contactable.
The US State Department said about 85 US citizens were missing and nine had been rescued. It said it was not aware of any US fatalities. Chinese state media said 18 US citizens were missing in Tibet.
Other figures included 42 Australians missing, 33 people from the United Kingdom missing in Nepal and 15 in Tibet, 29 Latvians missing in Nepal and 33 in Tibet, and 25 Canadians listed as missing by Nepal's Tourism Board. Canada's foreign ministry put the Canadian figure at 30 across Nepal and Tibet.
Authorities in India said they had recovered seven bodies from rivers flowing from Nepal and believed they were flood victims, but those bodies were not included in the toll.
The figures are expected to change as authorities continue rescue, recovery and identification work after the disaster.

The Nepal missing list includes 933 hydropower project workers, 45 Nepali army soldiers, 38 police and armed police officers, and 19 customs and immigration officers.
Nepal listed 3,655 missing citizens, including 1,158 in Nuwakot district and 562 in Rasuwa district.
Authorities in India's Uttar Pradesh state said they had recovered 17 bodies from rivers flowing from Nepal, believed to be flood victims, but those bodies are not included in the toll.

The tolls and missing-person figures are likely to change.
Some nationality figures differ by reporting authority and may overlap between Nepal and Tibet.
The seven bodies recovered in India were believed to be flood victims but were not included in the official toll.
