Milo Yiannopoulos detained by US immigration officials
Milo Yiannopoulos has been detained by US immigration authorities and is facing deportation, the Department of Homeland Security said Friday.
DHS said Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested the 41-year-old right-wing commentator at New Orleans International Airport on Thursday. In a post on X, the department described him as an “illegal alien from the United Kingdom” and said he had overstayed after arriving in the United States in 2019.
The department said an immigration judge issued a final order of removal on July 22 after Yiannopoulos failed to appear for an immigration hearing. It said he would remain in ICE custody pending removal.
Yiannopoulos wrote for Breitbart News, supported Donald Trump during the 2016 election campaign and has more recently criticised the US president. In a September 2025 post on X, Yiannopoulos wrote: “Total legal immunity for ICE agents when they're on duty.”
Uncertainty notes
The timing of any removal from the United States is not specified.
