Islamabad hospital fire kills 14 children
A fire at a maternity ward in Islamabad's public Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences hospital killed 14 children on Wednesday, the Islamabad district office said.
The district office said the fire broke out on the third floor of the Mother and Child Health Ward. It did not give the children's ages or state the cause of the fire.
Islamabad chief commissioner Sohail Ashraf said on X that rescue teams, specialists, police and he reached the site and brought the fire under control. He said the emergency call was made just before 7:00 a.m. local time.
