Iran Guards vow reprisals over US Larak Island strikes
Iran's Revolutionary Guards said US strikes on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday had killed and wounded people and promised reprisals.
US Central Command earlier said US forces struck two Iranian rocket launchers on the island. It said the Guards had been observed “preparing to launch rockets with sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz.”
The strike was the first such US attack in a month. It came shortly after the US-Iran war reached the six-month mark and after US Central Command said it had completed clearing sea mines from the strait's international shipping routes last week.
Iran has effectively blocked the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic sea lane through which one-fifth of the world's oil passed before the United States and Israel began hostilities with airstrikes on Iran on February 28. Diplomatic efforts led by mediators including Pakistan and Qatar have tried for months to end the war, but no final peace agreement has followed a June memorandum of understanding.

US Central Command said last week it completed clearing sea mines from international shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz.
US Central Command said US forces were monitoring the area and remained prepared to protect commerce through the waterway.

US Navy Captain Tim Hawkins said Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces were observed preparing to launch rockets with sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz.
