Houthi attacks kill 11 in Yemen, medical source says
Strikes by Yemen's Houthi rebels killed at least 11 people on Sunday in Mokha, a medical source in the government-held Red Sea port city told AFP, after an earlier Houthi drone salvo targeted a Saudi oil refinery on the Red Sea coast.
The medical source said three civilians and eight military personnel were killed. The source said 32 people were wounded, including six civilians, and that all civilian casualties came from strikes on Mokha's port.
Two military sources with Yemen's internationally recognised, Aden-based government earlier said at least eight troops were killed and more than 40 military personnel were injured. They said the Houthis attacked Mokha with several waves of missile and drone barrages.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group targeted what he called “Saudi enemy” troops and equipment in the area with missiles and drones. He earlier said the Houthis struck an Aramco oil facility at Jazan after Saudi Arabia's energy ministry said a fire at the site had been extinguished.
Saree said the refinery attack was launched in response to drone incursions by Saudi Arabia into northwest Yemen. One Yemeni military source said the Houthis also targeted pro-government forces and installations outside Mokha and sites on islands near the Bab al-Mandab Strait. The same source said some targeted locations housed Saudi troops, but no casualties had been reported among Saudi military personnel.
Residents in Mokha told AFP they heard blasts in the area. One said they heard explosions from drones and air defences over the port and city, while another said they heard six consecutive explosions at the port.
The attacks came after a years-long truce in Yemen's civil war appeared to collapse last month. The Houthis have announced a maritime blockade of Saudi Arabia and have hit Saudi tankers in the Red Sea and the kingdom's oil infrastructure.

Saudi Arabia's energy ministry said a dawn fire at one Jazan refinery facility was extinguished without injuries and did not give a cause.
Saree said the refinery attack was in response to Saudi drone incursions into northwest Yemen.

Saudi Arabia's energy ministry said firefighting teams extinguished a fire at dawn on August 9 at a facility belonging to the Saudi Aramco refinery in Jizan.
The Saudi ministry said there were no injuries.
