Saudi tanker attack killed two Filipino sailors, Bahri says
Two Filipino sailors were killed after the Saudi Arabia-flagged oil tanker SIDR was involved in a security incident in the Strait of Hormuz late on August 31, Saudi Arabia's national shipping company Bahri said Wednesday.
Bahri said on X that the vessel was transiting the strait when the incident happened and confirmed the loss of its two Filipino seafarers.
Greek maritime risk management firm Marisks had said unknown projectiles struck two crude oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz overnight Monday to Tuesday. Maritime security company Vanguard Tech identified the other vessel as the Liberia-flagged Senegal Prosperity and said its crew were safe.
On Wednesday, Iran's Revolutionary Guards said two oil tankers caught fire after striking mines while transiting the strait. Kpler data showed both vessels had loaded two million barrels of crude at Juaymah on Saudi Arabia's east coast last week.
