Eastern Cuba blackout follows grid failure, firm says
Four of eastern Cuba's five provinces suffered a blackout on Thursday, national power company Union Electrica de Cuba said, blaming a transmission failure.
The company said Holguin, Granma, Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo were plunged into darkness after “a fluctuation in the transmission lines” cut electricity supplies from three power plants.
