One person dies in fire near Valencia, town hall says
A fire in Manises, near the eastern Spanish city of Valencia, killed one person, the local town hall said on July 25.
The town hall said on X that firefighters had brought the blaze under control, but that the fire had claimed one life. It did not give further details about the person who died.
The local fire service confirmed the death toll and posted videos on X showing firefighters using hoses and helicopters against the flames. It said several people had been affected by smoke and were being treated by medics.
The Manises fire was separate from major blazes burning west of Madrid. Those fires had forced thousands of people to evacuate but had not caused any reported deaths at the time of the report. Media citing local authorities also reported another fire in Castellon province, in the Valencia region.
