Iran says its missiles targeted Jordan's Al Azraq base
Jordan's military said on July 30 that its air defences shot down five missiles launched from Iran early that morning, with no casualties reported.
An official military spokesperson said the missiles targeted Jordanian territory and were detected, intercepted and downed under established defence plans.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards later said they had launched an attack on Jordan's Al Azraq air base and targeted US aircraft there.
In a statement, the Guards said the United States had used bases in Jordan to launch an air strike with bunker-buster bombs on two residential houses on Qeshm Island. They said that strike killed a father, mother and child and wounded two other children.
Iran and the United States resumed overnight exchanges of fire after a days-long lull. The United States said it had carried out strikes in Iran in retaliation for attacks on Jordan. Pakistani mediators said diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the conflict were continuing.
