Jordan says it intercepted five Iranian missiles
Jordan's army said its air defences intercepted and downed five missiles from Iran on Wednesday that were targeting Jordanian territory.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it carried out the strike. In a statement carried by state TV, it said its Aerospace Force targeted a US airbase and the US Central Command Centre in Jordan with several ballistic missiles.
The Guards said the attack was in response to what they called the “aggressive actions” of the United States, without elaborating.
The strike was the first Iranian attack on regional countries since Friday, when the United States and Iran stopped attacks after trading fire for a fortnight. It came as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Washington to meet US President Donald Trump.
