Jordan shoots down two drones after Israel detects UAVs near border

Jordan’s air force shot down two drones on Monday morning after the Israeli military reported detecting and intercepting two unmanned aircraft near the Jordanian border.

Israel’s military said the drones were identified close to the border but did not enter Israeli territory. It said investigators were still determining where they had been launched from.

Jordan’s army later said Royal Jordanian Air Force aircraft intercepted and destroyed two drones that had targeted the kingdom.

No casualties or property damage were reported, the army said.

Earlier this month, Israeli and Jordanian forces intercepted an Iranian missile fired towards the Jordanian city of Aqaba, according to the Israeli military.

Jordan has faced repeated aerial threats since fighting resumed between Iran and the United States earlier this month, AFP reported. Israel has not participated in the latest round of fighting.
