Qeshm US strike kills family including 2-year-old: Fars
Iranian news agency Fars reported Thursday that a US attack on a residential home on Iran's Qeshm island killed a father, a mother and their two-year-old child, and injured two other children.
Fars cited Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences for the report and said the home was in the Chah Tangu neighbourhood of Qeshm.
The report added detail to earlier Iranian media accounts of American attacks around Qeshm island and Abadan city after the US military said it had completed a heavy wave of strikes.
Ahmad Nafisi, deputy governor of Hormozgan province, was earlier quoted by Mehr as saying a point near Qeshm was attacked at 04:00 local time, or 0030 GMT, by the “American enemy military”. Fars, citing Khuzestan's deputy governor, reported that points around Abadan were hit by missiles by what the official called the “terrorist enemy of America”.
US Central Command had said US strikes on Iran began at 8 p.m. Wednesday, or 0000 GMT, in response to attempted Iranian attacks on US forces in the Middle East the previous day.
Jordan's army said it intercepted five Iranian missiles, and Iran's Revolutionary Guards said they had targeted US bases in Jordan. Iranian state television had earlier reported a US strike in the Piranshahr border area near Iraq. Fars said a missile hit an uninhabited area there and caused no casualties.
