Iran warns Ukraine of ‘unforeseen consequences’ after Caspian strike kills sailor
Iran warned Ukraine on Monday that a strike on an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea would have “unforeseen” consequences after the attack killed one sailor and injured several others.
Foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei described the Ukrainian action as “illegal and unjustified” and said it violated the United Nations Charter.
He said the attack “will certainly not go unanswered” and that Ukraine must be held accountable.
Iran said the strike caused an Iranian ship to explode, killing one crew member and wounding several others.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that Kyiv had carried out long-range strikes in the Caspian Sea against vessels transporting military cargo involving Iran.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine carried out long-range strikes in the Caspian Sea against vessels used for military cargo involving Iran and a warship.
Ukraine's intelligence services said drone attacks targeted sanctioned cargo vessels used to move military cargo between Iran and Russia.
Iran's foreign ministry said one sailor was killed and several others were injured when the ship exploded.
Iranian state television said the Ukrainian charge d'affaires in Tehran was summoned on Saturday over the attack.
