Five ‘world’s grumpiest cat’ kittens go on display at Japan zoo

Five young Pallas’s cats have gone on public display at Kobe Animal Kingdom in Japan, the zoo said.

The four males and one female were born at the facility in May. Each weighed about 150 grams at birth but now weighs more than one kilogram.

The kittens are beginning to eat solid food, including chicken and horse meat.

Pallas’s cats are known for their sullen facial expressions and are sometimes described as the world’s grumpiest felines.

The zoo said they are believed to be among the oldest living cat species and are native to the dry, rocky regions of Central Asia.

They are not commonly kept on public display because they are relatively vulnerable to infections.

Kobe Animal Kingdom said it hoped visitors would come to see the healthy kittens playing and sleeping.
